2018-2019 WSFL Preview: Spearwood Lions FC2 min read
Last Season: 7th
Disappointing season in the winter for what was once the benchmark squad under the Aquile name. Kris Antonic will be determined to make finals after a two season absence. No easy task in the WSFL as the squads get stronger.
Still the squad has quality scattered throughout. Speed merchants Jojo Randazzo and Nelly Clayton both great inclusions in a side that looks to lean increasingly more on youth this season. Big expectations placed on Georgie Ireland and Mina Rosic as the Lionesses prepare to roar once again.
Main Lady: Nelly Clayton
What were the feelings as she watched her former teammates South Perth lift the cup? Undoubtedly well wishes, but there’s always a what if. Two footed, technical and a natural finisher she looks the one most likely to break enemy lines as Spearwood look to climb back to the WSFL summit.
One to Watch: Georgie Ireland
The pacy dribbler is full of tricks and so often the bright spark in her side. Prepare to be dazzled if she’s given the space and time to unleashed a sidestep or three.
