2018-2019 SFL Round 9 wrap-up
The beautiful game saw another Balga FC Friday fairytale as they stormed back from 4-1 down in the final 5 minutes to square the ledger with Perth AFC – who would have felt as though they had the 3 points locked away, having lead for most of the match.
Rockingham Cambio Cumbre’s impressive results continued as they made light work of the Spearwood Lions, who despite playing some good futsal at times were unable to trouble the most successful club in WA Futsal history. Final score Rockingham Cambio Cumbre 7, Spearwood Lions 0.
The Murdoch Warriors and Curtin Footballista played out a 5-5 draw in Friday’s late game, which did neither team favours in their pursuit to break away from a logjam of teams all within a game of each other in the mid to lower table.
The Joondalup ECU Jets stemmed the bleeding in recent weeks with a 5-5 draw against South Perth in a heated encounter that included a second half red card to the Jets.
Freamantle’s poor run of resulted continued they were comprehensively beating 5-1 by Longobarda in a clinical display by one of the oldest futsal clubs in WA.
The final match of round 9 was billed as match of the season between Cockburn EWA and Stirling Braza Ginga, one versus two on the table. A big crowd bought in to the pre game hype but it was second placed Stirling Braza Ginga who came away with the win, 5-1, to end Cockburns incredible winning streak of 15 matches, and give hope to teams in the top four that Cockburn EWA is beatable as we approach the Christmas break.
