SFL State Team Trials and Exhibition Game

Pictured: Great turn out for the first State Futsal trials session Saturday 18th, followed by the Exhibition game Sunday 19th August

Saturday the 18th saw a great turn out of players to the State trials. The selection trials were made up of players from the SFL, which is the Premier Futsal competition in WA, which attracts only those who wish to compete regularly at the highest level and also creates the opportunity to play against the best in the country.

Under the watchful eye of Rafaelle Capasso, players were able to showcase their ability in a 2 hour session. At the end of the day a list of 12 players were asked to return the next day for a second look to play in an exhibition match against a Kelme Allstar select side of Outdoor players. This team will also feature those who were unable to attend on the Saturday. The Kelme Allstar side featured the surprise inclusion of a National Futsal representative from the UK, Mikey Roberts, who is currently playing Outdoor for a top State League side, Floreat Athena. After his performance Sunday, I'm sure his signature will be the most desired for the upcoming October SFL season, should he make himself available.

There were many great players on display Saturday, such as Muita Calma's Nestor Fonseca and Tiago Fracasso as well as Victor Brauner from the Samba Boys and Diego Garcia from Calibre 12 Melville. The surprise performers on the day, however, were Stirling Spaniards Dennis Hayworth, South Fremantle's Daniel Muzzerelli, Belmont's Victor Garzon and Calibre 12's Sachin. There was also a welcomed return by Ciro Rinaldi from the Samba Boys. These were only a few of the names that stood out and at the end of the day the decision will come down to the coach: Rafaelle Capasso.

Exhibition Game: SFL State Trials Team 8 defeated Kelme Allstars 7

* The controversial win by the SFL team has led to a rematch scheduled to be played in 3 weeks on Sunday 9th September. The SFL team will be the players that will represent WA in Melbourne on the 21st September.
